World championship update Wednesday 19th August

It was another good day for Wexford handballers at the 2015 World Handball Championships in Calgary.

In the Mens open doubles round of 16 Gavin Buggy was partnered by Dominic Lynch for a 21-11, 21-12 over Dalton Beale and Brandon Townsend from Oregon and tomorrow the Wexford Kerry duo will take on reigning champions Louis Moreno and Andy Nett from the USA.
In the Mens C competitions it was a good day for Noel Holohan as the Templeudigan man advanced to the quarter finals of the singles and doubles in the singles Noel beat Michael Donovan from Laois 21-12, 21-6, meanwhile in the doubles Noel was partnered by Daniel Breen from Kilkenny in a dominant 21-2, 21-8 against Daniel Tristao and Daniel Grant from London.
In the Mens 40 and over B doubles Robert Doyle qualified for the semi final after he and partner Willie Holden from Kilkenny beat Kris Estetter and Kris John 21-12, 21-8. Meanwhile Robert also cruised through to the semi final of the Men’s 45 and over singles by defeating Michael Egan from Roscommon.
