World Championship report is compiled by Noel Holohan
It was a very good opening day to the four wall World Handball championships for Wexford handball players in Calgary on Monday.
Mark Doyle grabbed a fine 15-2, 15-3 win over Fionntain Mac Conmidhe from Tyrone on a 15-2, 15-3 score line in the 13 and under singles, while his St Joseph's club mate Josh Kavanagh advanced in the same competition after defeating Ray Ure from Illinois on a 15-12, 15-13 score line.
In the 17 and under singles Laurence Dunne was defeated by Austin Biddle from Oregan 21-18, 21-18.
In the Men's C singles Noel Holohan beat Carlos Tavarez from California 21-1, 21-1 however in the same competition Sean Nolan was defeated 21-16, 21-11 by Laurence Murphy from Mayo.
To wrap up a fine days play Ned Buggy hammered John Vangorder 21-2, 21-0.
The action continues tomorrow with Gavin Buggy, Thomas Byrne, Jimmy Dunne, Daniel Kavanagh and Robert Doyle all getting their first taste of the four wall championships.
