Last year they were the only pair in the whole of Ireland to beat the subsequent All Ireland 60×30 intermediate doubles champions Mikie and Jim Berry when they triumphed over the Barntown brothers in the county intermediate doubles final and Malachy Whelan and David Kenny, Castlebridge retained their title for 2016 by downing the strong Kilmyshall pairing of Keith Armstrong and Niall Maher 21-11, 21-13 in the final at St. Mary’s.

For Castlebridge stalwart Malachy Whelan it was a third intermediate doubles title in four years.
