Tommy Armstrong and Padraig Devereux win All Ireland over 50 doubles B title
Tommy Armstrong and Padraig Devereux produced a brilliant performance at Talbots Inch today to defeat Brendan Ryan and Willie Burke, Tipperary 21-14, 21-10 in the All Ireland 60×30 Golden Masters B doubles final.
It was a stunning outcome given that neither had progressed to this level previously and indeed had only joined forces at the start of this championship. For Tommy Armstrong it was a well deserved medal as he has been a constant presence at family handball events over the years and now he was giving them a chance to support him. By contrast Padraig Devereux has only taken up the sport in the past few years and while he has become ultra competitive in very quick time, his achievement in winning this All Ireland is particularly noteworthy. Both are also extremely active within their clubs and on any level this success has been richly earned and deserved.
At the Kilkenny venue they had far too much strength and movement for their opponents and ran out comfortable winners.
