Following on from the recent National Coaching Course held at Templeudigan Handball Club, there was a large turnout at the local court last night when parents and children from the area attended the inaugural Handball Introduction Night.
About 30 boys and girls were there to see what handball was and to hear about club plans to introduce weekly juvenile coaching and development sessions.
This will commence on Friday, September 8th from 7 to 8pm and will continue every Friday from then onward.  The starting time and the length of the session will be reviewed as the programme evolves and depending on numbers may be changed and/or extended.
Ahead of that however a Registration Night will be held on Friday next September 1st at 7pm when all who sign up will be presented with a set of eye guards and other handball goodies.
Last night the children took away a handball and a club commitment that the emphasis on those training nights will be on fun and excitement.
The training sessions are not confined to those who attended last night and are open to additional children and indeed adults who may wish to join at any stage, as long as they are within the Templeudigan catchment area.
In that context children from the the three local schools Rathnure, Rathgarogue and Drummond will be especially welcome.
Club Chairperson, Michéal O’Neill and Club Children’s Officer, Betty O’Neill attended along with committee members David Redmond and Tony Breen.
