New 'Legends in their Lifetime' Tournament
Written by Antoin Ó Braoin, Runai Contae
GAA Handball Wexford are delighted to announce details of our new ‘Legends in their Lifetime’ 40×20 Doubles Tournament. Specially created for players who are over 65 years of age and who have not won an All Ireland singles championship, it is designed to recognize the contribution and longevity of these terrific individuals who still play the game today at an age when people in other sectors of society have long since decided to put their feet up for good! Those taking part range in age from 65 to 74 and all are living proof of the benefits generated by a lifetime of handball.
Although there are only six players involved in the tournament, the format used will provide six games for each player and the two players with the most points will play together in the final against the third and fourth highest points scorers.
All four finalists will receive ‘Legends in their Lifetime’ shirts with those who come out on top going home with the coveted winners garment. Only winners will ever have these and the bragging rights associated with it will be mighty!
A profile of the players will appear here next week along with pictures of the Legends.
