Mark Cardiff and Mikie Murphy bring first county adult title to 'new' Taghmon

After the excitement generated locally by the reopening of the local handball court, there was further reason to celebrate in Taghmon recently when Mikey Murphy and Mark Cardiff captured the county 60×30 junior D doubles title in style by beating Robert Cogley and James Moran, Ballymitty 21-8, 21-1 in the final played at St. Mary’s.

The eventual winners had been the men to beat right from the beginning of the championship and they let nobody down as they dominated the competition and the final for a very impressive success.

It proved to be a bridge too far for the youthful Ballymitty pairing on this occasion but their earlier form was the sort that will place them amongst the favourties for the 2017 championship.
