Majestic Connors takes All Ireland Junior B Singles Title

Wexford’s first All Ireland title of the weekend came in hugely impressive fashion at Talbots Inch tonight when Miles Connors produced a powerful performance to win the Junior B Singles championship. The New Ross native kept his best display for the final against Christopher Enright, Limerick at the Kilkenny venue and after the early rallies had been evenly contested, he took total command of proceedings to run out a facile 21-4, 21-3 winner.

Those early exchanges proved to be very misleading as Connors was merely sizeing up his opponent before deciding what toss would cause him the most trouble and when he found it was a soft lob serve off the right hand wall he persevered with it for most of the match. The left handed Enright disliked the slow pace of the toss to such an extent that his game plan evaporated very quickly and as his confidence drained away the Wexford player simply done as he liked.
From 5-4 up in that first game Connors took over and he ran the Limerick player ragged as he mixed sublime killing with clever passing shots. He finished out that game without any further concession and was 10-0 ahead in the second before Enright got another score. The rest of the match was purely exhibition stuff  as Connors came home in terrific style.
