Long layoff not a barrier to Shane Terry as he takes the county 35 and Over softball singles title in style

Shane Terry, St. Josephs retained his county 35 and over singles title at Ballymitty last night when he saw off a persistent challenge from underdog Keith Devereaux, Castlebridge before finishing strongly to hold on the title. The first game turned out to be key to the outcome of this contest and when it went the way of Terry by 21-14, it left Devereux with a mountain to climb. He faced up to the challenge in magnificent style though and while he trailed for most of the second game, he did get himself in front when it mattered most to level the match with a 21-19 win. That effort took its toll however and when the reigning champion went again in the third the Castlebridge man had little left.
