Leinster Lose out in Thrilling Girls 60×30 Interprovincial Team of Six Final
Munster claimed the 2018 Girls 60×30 Interprovincial Team of Six in Clogh on Saturday. In the final Munster overcame Leinster after a very tight contest that went down to the very last game before they won on the scoreline 77-66. April Moran from Ballymitty was the one Wexford Representative on the team.
This event, which was hugely entertaining and competitive, saw three doubles pairings, aged between 13 & 17 compete on aggregate scoring, with some of the young girls competing at national level for the first time.
First to play in U13 were Kilkenny’s Aisling Cooney and Carlow’s Farrah Ryan against Tipperary’s Hannah Grace and Leanne Gould. In two tightly fought games Tipperary won 15-6, 15-12.
Next in were the U15 doubles of Kilkenny’s Amy Brennan and Wexford’s April Moran against Clare’s Chloe Philpott and Leah Minogue. In a high tempo game Munster took the first game 15-14 and Leinster the second 15-7.
The U17’s were last to play. With 5 points between the teams Kilkenny’s Roisin O’Keeffe and Meath’s Emily Sheridan Fox won the first game 15-10 against the Broadford Limerick duo of Aisling Shanahan and Ciara McCarthy to level the scores. With all to play for the Munster girls lifted their game and went on to win 15-4, leaving a final scoreline Munster 77, Leinster 66. (report courtesy of GAA Handball)
