Ready for the fray! Paul Lambert, Wexford and Brendan Burke, Kilkenny before their Leinster Junior Singles final at Garryhill this evening.

Paul Lambert (Wexford) took on a highly rated Brendan Brendan Burke (Kilkenny) in the Junior Singles Leinster 60×30 final this evening. Nothing short of epic handball was witnessed by the travelling Wexford supporters. The first game proved to be a ding dong battle in which both players exchanged the lead. The stylish Lambert displayed some excellent safety shots in the first game but the Kilkenny player was up to the task in the first and just about edged the game on a scoreline of 21-20, the first game taking over 45 minutes to complete. What happened next was simply breath taking. The Wexford man found his range and played some really aggressive handball. Many of the Wexford follower’s touted it was the best handball played by Lambert this year. Along with top class serving in the second game Lambert put on a terrific show of kill shots and passing shots. The accumulation of the aforementioned shots proved far too great for the Kilkenny man in the second which saw him suffer a heavy defeat of 21-1. An amazing display of handball by Lambert brought this match to a deciding third game. The Wexford man took up the third game where he left off the second and completely dominated the early exchanges running up an impressive score of 19-2 in the third before the Kilkenny man regained his toss. Burke made another 6 aces before Lambert retook serve and finished out the match winning the third game on a scoreline of 21-8. Next up for Lambert in Leinster is the all Wexford affair of the Junior 60×30 doubles final between Darren O’Toole/ Malachy Whelan v Paul Lambert/Paddy Haughton.
