Kavanagh goes out to O'Neill in classic minor singles encounter

Daniel Kavanagh, Wexford who lost out to Tadgh O'Neill, Cork in a classic All Ireland minor singles semi final at St. Josephs yesterday. Kavanagh overcame a slow start to take the first game 21-18, but after being level at the half way point of the second, it was O'Neill who pulled clear to take it 21-14 and level the tie. The Munster champion then dominated the third for a well merited 21-7 victory. It was a hugely impressive performance from a youngster whose style is reminiscent of the great Paul Brady. In the end victory went the way of the Cork youngster on a scoreline of 18-21, 21-14, 21-7 and on the evidence of this hugely impressive display he will enter the final against Sean Kerr, Tyrone in two weeks time with every chance.
