beat Gavin Lawlor / Jack Murphy (Wexford) 2-0 in this doubles semi final. The Wexford pairing showed some excellent serving in this semi final and certainly done themselves proud. However on the day they came up against a Carlow pairing who had a little too much handball. That being said both Gavin Lawlor and Jack Murphy will no doubt meet these opponent’s again and would certainly relish the chance of a re-match.

Boys under 14 doubles winners Ciaran Power and Colm Parnell, Wexford
Boys under 14 doubles winners Ciaran Power and Colm Parnell, Wexford

Boys U-14 Doubles: Colm Parnell/Ciaran Power (Wexford) beat John Mc Kenna/Niall Donnelly (Dublin) 2-0.  Parnell and Power were both in fine form and both players displayed a good selection of shots during rally’s. From this victory going forward Parnell / Power will be aware that stiffer tasks lie ahead and with lots of hard work in practice these young Wexford lads certainly have the ability to go on and secure a Leinster title.

Girls U-15 Singles : Mollie Dagg (Kildare) beat Ashling Hennessy (Wexford) 2-0. Wexford’s Ashling Hennessy faced a very tough task in her U-15 semi final when

she faced Mollie Dag of Kildare. Dagg got off to a blistering start in both games and the Wexford lady was on the back foot. Overall the Kildare lady was too strong on the day but Hennessy no doubt will be back wearing the purple and gold colors again very shortly in the alley and this defeat will make her more determined in practice.

BU16S. Daniel Kavanagh, Wexford and Ben Devlin, Louth
BU16S. Daniel Kavanagh, Wexford and Ben Devlin, Louth

Boys U-16 Singles: Daniel Kavanagh (Wexford) beat Ben Devlin (Louth) 2-0. This semi final was dominated by the young Wexford man as he hit the ground running in both games. Kavanagh now has to focus on a Leinster final where he hopes to secure another Leinster medal. There is no doubting the capabilities of this young handballer but to develop and reach his full potential he know he must listen and take on board the excellent advice that surrounds him coupled with lots of tough training.

Liam Rossiter and Thomas Hall, Wexford who defeated Cathal Caverly and Peter Tierney, Dublin in BU16D

Boys U-16 Doubles : Thomas Hall / Liam Rossiter (Wexford) beat Cathal Caverly / Peter Tierney ( Dublin ) 2-0. Another great victory for Wexford and a great doubles display also. This was a very hard hitting affair form Thomas Hall and the natural handball strokes of Rossiter provided a great combination on the day. No doubts this pairing have the skill  and fitness level to secure a Leinster title however on their faith lies in their own hands.

Girls U-17 Singles : Meadhbh ni Dhalaigh (Dublin) beat Courtney Browne (Wexford) 2-0. Browne can count herself very unfortunate not to bring this match to a third game as she narrowly lost the second game on a scoreline

of 21-16. The Wexford lady show great skill and and determination in the alley and especially in the second great belief.

However her Dublin opponent just about held on to secure the match on the day, disappointment for Browne but she certainly done herself proud.

Boys U-17 Singles: Keith Armstrong bet Kevin Diggins ( Kildare ) 2-0. The Wexford man proved too strong for his opponent on the day and was a

comfortable winner in the end. This young player has a bright future in the game but he knows to make to the heights of Hynes and Buggy a lot of hard work lies ahead along with taking guidance from peers with the county. Armstrong will be looking forward to a Leinster final and without doubt will have all his preparation done before the big game.
