Wexford handball received yet another boost at the famed Golden Gloves 40×20 tournament held in Belfast last weekend when Galen Riordan came out on top in the Men’s A singles event. The Ballyhogueman has been in fine form in the early stages of the county championship so far this season and he carried that form on to the intercounty stage in terrific fashion, beating the 2017 All Ireland junior singles champion Gavin Coyle, Monaghan, intermediate player Brian Manogue, Kilkenny and in the final, the 2017 All Ireland junior B singles champion Jordan O’Neill, Antrim.
