David Stanners began his county 35 and Over singles campaign in impressive manner at St. Josephs Handball Centre on Wednesday night with a comfortable 21-12, 21-9 victory over Enda Buggy, St. Josephs.
The competitive St. Martins man has only been playing the game for a comparatively short period but during that time he has made a name for himself as a determined and skillful opponent who gives 100% in all of his matches. This was no exception and after the early skirmishes had been fairly even he took over to win the first game with a bit to spare.
The second followed a similar pattern with Enda Buggy giving his all but simply unable to make any significant inroad into the Stanners game plan. In the end it was a rather easy win for the Kilmannon native who gets the three points to kickstart his challenge for the title.
For Enda Buggy the search for points will continue.
