Compensation for Keith Armstrong as he defeats Paul Lambert in Intermediate final
Just three days after he lost out so narrowly to Tommy Hynes in the county senior open singles final, 20 year old Keith Armstrong, Kilmyshall gained some level of compensation when he defeated Hynes’s St. Mary’s clubmate Paul Lambert in an enthralling intermediate singles final at New Ross. Just as he did in the senior final Armstrong came with a late run to take the opener but Lambert killed better in the second to deservedly level the match. The deciding game was close throughout and each had chances to win it before Armstrong kept his nerve to scramble home.
It was no more than he deserved after an energy sapping week.
