Buggy Maintains His Magnificent Record
Written by Antoin Ó Braoin, Rúnaí Contae
The titles continue to roll in for Wexford’s most consistently successful player Gavin Buggy. Ultra competitive and a fanatical trainer, his hunger and enthusiasm remains undiminished despite a cabinet stacked with county, Leinster and All Ireland winners medals. And that hunger was again evident at Garryhill this week when he retained his Leinster Over 35 A Singles title in emphatic style with a comprehensive 21-3, 21-6 win over Dara Ward, Kildare.
It kept him on course to repeat his All Ireland victory in this grade last year when he edged out great rival Paul Mullins, Tipperary in a terrific final at Dungarvan, a year after he suffered a serious belt in the eye against the same player in the 2012 final.
With another championship now firmly in his sights that cabinet door might just need to be opened once more!
