Wexford players again to the fore in Leinster as championship medal haul reaches 13
Wexford’s Leinster 60×30 championship medal haul continues to increase and after another successful week on the courts of the province the number of titles won to date stands at 13. This is just one short of the magnificent 2014 tally of 14 which looks certain to be exceeded in the coming weeks.
Wexford players to have already won championship medals in 2015 are;
Mikie Berry and Darren O’Toole pictured with Leinster Vice Chairman Tony Breen following the Intermediate Singles final at St. Mary’s, where Berry was a 20-21, 21-11, 21-6 winner. Intermediate Doubles winners Mikie Berry and Jim Berry dft Darren O’Toole and Malachy Whelan Galen Riordan captured the U21S title by defeating Brain Mahon, Kilkenny 21-7, 21-17 at Garryhill Junior B Singles champion Padhraic Roberts who came from behind to beat Jamie Balfe, Kildare 14-21, 21-14, 21-12 in the Leinster final at Kilfane. It was his third time in succession t be taken the distance but like the quarter final and semi final his fitness and determination took him home. John Roche and Damien Kelly retained their Leinster Masters B Doubles title with a hard earned 21-20, 21-9 win at Garryhill on Saturday. Roche also held on to his singles title by defeating Ray Fogarty, Laois 21-16, 21-14 at the same venue on Wednesday. It was honours even shared in the Emerald Masters B Leinster finals with Jimmy Dunne (1st on left) beating Michael Rossiter (3th on left) 17-21, 21-9, 21-14 in the singles, but Michael Rossiter and Billy Rossiter got their revenge in the doubles defeating Jimmy Dunne and Tom Byrne 21-15, 21-17. John Bail and Billy Rossiter fought out the Diamond Masters B Singles final at Wexford and Rossiter confirmed his dominance with a comfortable win.
