A proud day for Wexford handball as Daniel Kavanagh as he takes his place on Team Ireland
Wexford handball received another huge boost at Kingscourt over the weekend when Daniel Kavanagh came through a star studded field to take the boys 17 and under singles title at the Junior 40×20 Nationals and in the process booked his seat on the plane to Calgary, Canada for the August World Championships.
With a place on Team Ireland awaiting the winners of the event all of the top players in the country were in action at the Cavan venue, but the brilliant young Wexford handballer raised his game to unprecedented heights to win three matches and secure the coveted spot.
Also in action at the Nationals finals were Mark Doyle and Conor Murphy, boys under 11 doubles, Glen Murphy, Richard Lawlor and Cian Kehoe, boys 13 and under singles, as well as Cora Doyle, girls 15 and under singles and Roisin Walsh, girls 17 and under singles.
All acquitted themselves with distinction throughout a very competitive weekend and their performances demonstrated the overall strength of Wexford juvenile handball.
