2020: A new decade beckons for Ireland’s premier county championship

173 entries have been received for the first county championship of the new decade, and while this is down 8 on the 2019 figure for the 4-wall code, it’s still one of the best supported domestic championships in the country.  When the 89 who took part in the recently completed county league is also taken into consideration it paints a picture of a county where handball is hugely important to the members of Wexford GAA Handball, and where players want to play continuously in a competitive environment.

The 2020 championship gets underway on Thursday, 2nd January and is being run on a knockout basis this year due to the earlier promotion of the county league. Because of that each match takes on an added significance and one bad performance could see championship hopes disappear.
