Memories from 1965: Wexford dominated the early National Leagues

The first National League was played in 1965 and it was won by Wexford. The team consisted of Dick Lyng, Billy Lyng, Jimmy King and J. Dempsey.Three of those team members are in this old picture from 1965.

Lyng family on first National League teamSligo won in 1966 but Wexford were victorious again in both 1967 and 1968 when Dick Lyng, Seamus Buggy, Jimmy King and Joe Howlin made up the team.

The run was broken by Dublin in 1969 but the following year saw Wexford back on top again with Dick Lyng, Seamus Buggy, Joe Howlin and Pat Murphy.
