Handball makes a cautious return in Wexford as David Kenny takes the first title of the new season

HANDBALL IS BACK

The welcome sound of the ‘big red’ reverberated around the courts of Wexford once more this evening as the opening matches of the 2021 county softball singles took place. With government restrictions in place it was a cautious and low key return to the sport after such a long absence, and with such a short lead in time, with only a few weeks to prepare, it was perhaps understandable that a few choose to withdraw rather than risk injury.

Amongst the matches played tonight was the intermediate singles final between David Kenny, Castlebridge and Darren O’Toole, Coolgreany. It took place at Castlebridge and the competitive and ‘ever ready’ Kenny got things up and running for the host club with a comfortable 21-11, 21-5 win.

David Kenny, Castlebridge wins the first title of the new season by beating Darren O’Toole, Coolgreany 21-11, 21-5 in the Intermediate singles final played at Castlebridge tonight.
