David Stanners Painting & Decorating sponsors Division 1 of the county team league

Although the Stanners family grew up in the shadow of the handball court at Kilmannon near Cleariestown, David was well into his 30s before he decided to take up the game with any degree of seriousness.  Success came quickly though and in 2015 he took his first steps up the promotional ladder in Wexford by winning three of the four entry level junior D singles and doubles competitions, two in softball and one in 4-wall. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength and after enjoying considerable success at county and provincial level, he reached the pinnacle of the sport in 2019 when he won his maiden All Ireland title in masters B softball doubles. His son Eli has recently begun playing too so it seems the link between handball and the family name is set to continue into the next generation.

Through his business David Stanners Painting & Decorating https://www.facebook.com/davethepainterno1, David recently decided to become part of the sponsorship team in the county and is currently lending his name to the county softball singles leagues. This is a ten-group competition with an entry of 69 players and its proving to be extremely popular at all levels. Wexford Handball Board extends thanks to David for his generosity.
