It’s been a terrific 60×30 season for David Kenny, Castlebridge and he dominated the county junior singles championship from the off. He played a total of six matches throughout the competition and never really appeared in danger of defeat in any of them.

His opponent in the final was the strong and determined Niall Maher and although a positive start for the Kilmyshall man helped him into a comfortable 13-8 lead in the opening game, Kenny eventually got back on level terms at 16 all. It still took a strong finish to see him home 21-17 but the foundation had been laid for outright victory and from there he always looked likely to win in straight games. Maher did put it up to Kenny again in the second, but from the half way point onward the favourite used his greater fitness to pull away for a deserving 21-14 victory and win his third county 60×30 championship of the season. Having earlier stepped up a level to take the intermediate singles and doubles championship he thereby completed his hat trick in a truly remarkable season of success for him.
