Another successful 60×30 season completed in Wexford

Another exciting domestic season has just been completed in Wexford with 28 adult softball championships successfully concluded.  Just as they did in 2017 Castlebridge were again the dominant club with a magnificent championship haul of 11 titles (39.29% of all championships), which translated into an incredible success rate of 52.38% in championships which they contested. Ballymitty, Kilmyshall and St. Mary’s were next with 3 apiece (10.71%), followed by Coolgreany, St. Josephs and Templeudigan with 2 wins each (7.14%). Ballyhogue and St. Martins completed the list with one title each.

In another remarkable show of force, clubs with 60×30 courts captured 24 of the 28 titles on offer (85.71%), demonstrating yet again that even when competing with the hurling and football season, well organised and well motivated clubs will thrive on every front.

The much envied Wexford championship systems were again fully vindicated with 13 of the 26 singles and doubles finals going the distance.  It highlighted once again how difficult it is to win in Wexford.

As a result of this years successes junior D singles and doubles winners are now promoted to junior C, while junior C singles winners move up to junior B in 2019. All others remain in the same grade until promoted at national level.

Attention now turns to the World 40×20 Championship in Minnesota, USA and later on in August and September, the Leinster and All Ireland 60×30 championship will resume with a strong Wexford challenge still remaining in contention.
